Instructors' Bios

Randy Brown
attended University of Toronto, graduating with a B.A. in English.
He was a freelance writer/photographer in Toronto for years,
writing on many topics, and currently teaches English and expressive writing at George Brown College. He has
published articles in Canada's Photo Life and other American
magazines. In his current business, the Crayon Group, he services
clients in graphic design, photography, writing, and printing.
He works as a still photographer on local movie shoots and for
a number of personal and business clients. He is knowledgeable
about camera basics right up to digital technology and printing.
His experience lets him simplify complex topics into general
principles that everyone can work with.

Bill Chandler
has been a garden designer and builder for over twenty-five years.
He has taught many garden classes.

Jenny Reid
studied Fine Arts at the University of Natal in South Africa.
After immigrating to Canada in 1979 she studied watercolour
at Central Technical School, and this has been her medium of
choice ever since. She finds watercolour an exciting and
versatile medium, which is also environmentally
friendly. She continues to study with leading artists from Canada
and the United States. She is an award winning artist whose
work hangs in collections all over the world, including China
and Hong Kong. Her work is regularly accepted into juried shows.
In 2001 one of her pictures was chosen for the East York Foundation
permanent collection. She is a founding and signature member
of the Toronto Watercolour Society, and past president of the
Don Valley Art Club. She also teaches for the Toronto District
School Board.

Wendy Shingler
studied fine art at St. Martins School of Art in London, England,
and jewellery-making at the University of Wisconsin and George
Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. In Montreal she introduced
the jewellery courses to the Saidye Bronfman Centre, which continue
to be a successful part of its art programme. On moving to Toronto
she joined the Harbourfront Craft Studios as a studio resident.
She has been an interim teacher at Seneca College, George Brown
College, and the Ontario College of Art & Design. An active
member of the Metal Arts Guild, Wendy has served as president
and continues on its executive. She has been an adviser to the
Harbourfront Craft Studios and the Georgian College Jewellery
Programme. She has won a number of design awards and her work
is exhibited and sold nationally and internationally.

Mike Warren-Darley
graduated from the Three Schools of Art (New School of Art)
in Toronto in 1974 and had his first gallery showing in 1979.
His work is now included in the collections of publisher Kenneth
Thomson, architect Ray Moriyama, Famous People Players founder
and artistic director Dianne Dupuy, and impresario Gino Empry,
as well as the University of Toronto, Imperial Oil, and The
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He shows at the Fran Hill Gallery.
